LOOKING FOR NIRVANA
Ski Chile’s Volcanoes
This is not your typical ski trip.
For nine days, we’ll road trip through southern Chile, following the snow from Las Trancas to Corralco and Pucón, skiing through landscapes shaped by volcanoes, ancient forests and some of the wildest mountains in the country.
We’ll ski different mountains, hike through native forests, soak in natural hot springs and gather around the fire for long Chilean asados.
But Looking for Nirvana is not just about chasing snow. It’s about everything we find along the way.
Small mountain towns. Local people. Forests covered in snow. Food around the fire. Hot water after a freezing day outside. And the feeling of waking up every few days somewhere completely different.
We travel in a small group of no more than 10 people, staying in carefully selected places and exploring alongside our Local Legends. We take care of the logistics so you can focus on the adventure.
Welcome to Looking for Nirvana.
Expedition Details
Because skiing a volcano feels different. Southern Chile is a landscape shaped by fire and snow. Volcanoes rise above ancient araucaria forests. Thermal waters run beneath the mountains. And some of the best experiences happen far beyond the ski lifts. Instead of staying in one resort for a week, we move.
We ski.
We road trip.
We hike.
We soak.
We eat around the fire.
And we discover southern Chile through the people who actually call these mountains home.
Maybe Nirvana isn’t a place.
Maybe it feels a little like this.

THREE MOMENTS YOU’LL REMEMBER
-

SKI A VOLCANO
There’s something surreal about looking up and realising the mountain you’re skiing is actually a volcano. Throughout the journey, we’ll experience different ski areas across southern Chile, eventually reaching the slopes of Villarrica. Snow beneath your skis.
A volcano beneath the snow. Not exactly your average ski day.
-

HOT WATER. COLD AIR.
After days in the snow, we’ll disappear into the forest and swap ski boots for thermal waters.
Hot water below you.
Cold air above you.
Native forest everywhere else. This might be our favourite version of après-ski.
-

EAT AROUND THE FIRE
Some of the best meals of this expedition won’t happen inside restaurants. They’ll happen around the fire. Expect Chilean asados, local ingredients, good wine, music and long tables surrounded by the landscapes we came here to experience.
Because food tastes different after a day in the mountains.

MORE DETAILS
-
This is a road trip, so our home changes with the landscape.
Rather than choosing accommodation simply because it’s luxurious, we look for places with character, great people and a real connection to where we are.
Places where coming home after a day outside feels good.
Single, double or triple? You choose.
Just let us know your preferred room setup when booking and we’ll take care of the rest. Rates may vary depending on occupancy and availability.
-
We don’t treat meals as the space between activities. They’re part of the expedition.
Expect Chilean asados around the fire, local restaurants, mountain food and long meals after long days outside. Some meals will be carefully prepared around a beautiful table.Others might happen outside with wet boots and smoke from the fire.
Both matter.
All meals throughout the expedition are included. If you have any allergies or dietary requirements, please let us know when booking so we can make the necessary arrangements.
-
We created Do Local because we believe travel should give something back to the places that give us so much.
That starts with how we travel.
We prioritise local guides, locally owned businesses, independent accommodation and people with a real connection to the landscapes we're exploring.
But we want to go further.
Part of the value created through our expeditions will support conservation and ecosystem restoration initiatives in Chile.
Travellers will also have the opportunity to make an additional voluntary contribution.
Because protecting a place shouldn’t be separate from travelling through it.
It should be part of the journey.
-
This expedition is for people who love skiing but are looking for more than a week at a resort.
You should be comfortable spending several days skiing and being active outdoors, moving between destinations and adapting when mountain conditions change.
You don't need to be the strongest skier on the mountain.
But you should enjoy adventure, being outside, meeting new people and occasionally getting a little wet, cold or muddy.
If your idea of a great ski trip includes hot springs, road trips, forests, asados and waking up beneath a volcano...
You’re probably in the right place.
-
Maximum 10 travellers.
Small groups let us stay in smaller places, move more easily, change plans when the mountains tell us to and actually get to know the people travelling with us.
Most importantly, everyone fits around one table.
That matters to us.
