Do Local was born from a simple question: Why do we love traveling?
It was never about the destination. Do Local Travel is a boutique adventure travel company for Australians who want to know South America the way locals do: on foot, on skis, on horseback and around the fire. We believe the best journeys change how you feel about the world. And that the places that give us those journeys deserve something in return.
How it all began
In 2020, our founder, Pepa, packed a backpack and a camera and started asking one question: why do you love travelling?
She asked surfers, skiers, travellers and creatives across several countries. The answers were rarely about a place. They were about freedom. About the stranger who became a friend over dinner. About a mountain that made everything else feel small, in the best possible way. Those conversations became a documentary, and the documentary became a project called DO YOU. People who watched it wanted to travel that way too, so we started taking them. Over time, DO YOU grew into Do Local Travel: small-group expeditions and private journeys connecting Australia with Chile and Patagonia.
Why we exist
We live in a culture that moves fast and buys a lot. But we know the most important things in life aren't things at all. You can't hold them. Most of the time, you can't even see them. You can only live them.
Collect memories, not things.
But the longer we spent in these places, the clearer something became. Every adventure we offer depends on a living place: a clean river, a healthy forest, a community that wants to share its home. If we take people there and give nothing back, we are just another company selling the view.
The world is slowly shifting from buying things to buying experiences. We want that shift to mean something. We imagine a future where people choose experiences over possessions, and where every one of those experiences helps nature recover.
Because, at the end of the day, nature is what makes us human. And we still have time to change the world for the better.

We believe tourism can leave a place better than it found it. Here is where we honestly stand.
What we do today
We keep our groups small. We work directly with locally owned lodges, guides, cooks and operators rather than through mass agencies, so more of what you spend stays in the valley you are travelling through. Our journeys are led by Local Legends: guides, hosts and characters who live where we travel and share what they know.
What we are building
A clear way for every journey to help protect the landscapes we explore and support the communities who care for them. We are choosing credible conservation and community partners in Chile carefully. When that work is real, we will tell you exactly what we fund and what it achieves. Not before.

We are a small team, and we are not finished. We will keep learning what responsible travel means in practice, from our guides, our hosts and our travellers. Expect us to grow carefully, to say no to anything that turns a place into a backdrop, and to tell you plainly what we are doing and what we are not doing yet.
